PS3 COMPETITION FIXTURES NOW AVAILABLE!
The Swanlea Youth Project (SYP) is based in Swanlea School Business and Enterprise College on the 2nd floor Youth Office. The team is comprised of a Project Manager, casual staff and youth volunteers working closely with parters and external agencies to provide a youth provision to the local community in Tower Hamlets. Between 9am - 4:30pm the SYP works directly with children at Swanlea School providing lunch-time and after-school clubs.
Young people engage voluntarily, fully participate and take ownership of all projects. This allows us to accredit their learning and achievements through external bodies as well as internally. Our youth provision and other services contribute to raising standards, create opportunities for learners of all ages and supports community cohesion and regeneration.
Our ambition is to maximise a young persons potential, raise aspirations of all and challenge poverty of ambition. Our aims, objectives and work practice is derived from the objectives of Every Child Matters (ECM), the Tower Hamlets Youth Work Curriculum and the Youth Work and Study Support Code of Practice. Swanlea Youth Project has four operational aims
- To promote independent learning in order to raise achievement
- To increase access to educational and vocational opportunities
- To promote Health, fitness and participation in sports
- To involve young people in the organisations development and support them into employment. The SYP objectives are to achieve these aim using the most effective means available to us working closely with our partners and external agencies.
This website was created in partnership with young people and all aspects of our projects are lead by young people. This site is under continuous development by young people. The SYP works in partnership with Swanlea School, the Extended Schools programme and local Youth and Community organisations to raise money for the enhancement and support of children's learning and recreational needs in Tower Hamlets.
